CAROLINE ROUTH

My two areas of interest seem at first very different from each other, but actually they’re not.  Firstly, I use the TAPESTRY-CROCHET technique to create original, one-of-a-kind Vessels, Sculptures, and two-dimensional Artworks, mainly in cotton and linen yarns, and often using fine DMC cotton embroidery-floss as “yarn”.  The works are small, colourful and labour-intensive.

Secondly, I create Works on Paper, using polycolour pencil, again smallish, often very detailed, but with rich glowing colour: subject-matter from realistic still-life to non-objective abstraction, and  in between.
